“Posidonia” is a sculpture I created to raise awareness of the fragility of our oceans
and the urgent need to protect them. The sculpture’s flowing hair is a symbolic
reference to Posidonia oceanica, a marine plant found in the Mediterranean Sea. Just
as the strands of hair seem to move with fluidity and grace, the Posidonia plant sways
gently with the currents, playing a vital role in maintaining marine ecosystems.
Posidonia oceanica, is often referred to as the lungs of the sea due to its ability to

produce oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide.

Despite its critical ecological role, it faces threats from human activity, pollution, and

climate change.

I invite viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of all life and the beauty of the
underwater world. It serves as both a tribute to the ocean’s wonders and a call to
action to preserve and protect these fragile ecosystems for future generations.
