CHESS SET, HORSE
I love the chess game; it’s as illuminating as it is frustrating.
It is the fairest game I know because it puts everything and everyone in their place.
I used to spend hours playing chess with my father and over time got better and eventually started to win.
I noticed that he immediately took it personally as he saw himself becoming old and frail.
We still cherished those moments playing the game together by the pool in Rome;
overlooking the Hudson River in Manhattan, or in the Libyan desert during breaks from his role in Lion of the Desert.
For me, it is a game in which the importance of time is relative.
If only we could live our lives in the same way we play chess.
